The Valley of the God

Starting from Darchen (4,575m), the trail enters the Lha Chu valley. You will see the famous prayer flag pole at Tarboche. The day ends with the spectacular West Face of Mt. Kailash shining golden at sunset.

Conquering the Pass

The toughest day. We ascend to the Dolma La Pass (5,630m), the highest point. Offer your lungta here. Then, descend past the emerald Lake of Compassion (Gauri Kund).

The Walk of Completion

An easy walk back to Darchen along the river. Visit Zutulpuk Monastery (Cave of Miracles) where Milarepa meditated. The circle is complete.

Day 3

How to Get to Mount Kailash?

🚙 From Lhasa (Classic)

3 days driving (1,200km). Route: Lhasa -> Shigatse -> Saga -> Darchen. Best for acclimatization.

✈️ From Ali (Fast)

Fly to Ali Kunsha Airport (NGQ), then 3-hour drive to Darchen. High risk of altitude sickness.

🇳🇵 From Kathmandu

Drive to Gyirong Border, then overland to Saga and Darchen. Requires Group Visa.
